Harder Beat - August 2003 (Dallas)
The self-titled release from Texas natives Doctura is a powerful assault on the senses of any heavy music fan. Kicking off the disc, is the truly heavy "Conception," which lets you know that you are in for a great record that never lets up. "Disgrace" is another heavy as hell song, "Lucid Sedations" has a great intro that shows off Nat Garza's great voice. "Contemplation" and "Conclusion" are beautifully arranged acoustic tracks that show there's more to Doctura than just in-your-face metal. Production on the eight-song record is off the hook! The deep, driving bass lines by Phillip Villagran, constant brilliant drumming of Chris Hillhose, and powerful guitar playing of both Nat Garza and Ryan Chadek come through with such equal force, that this has got to be the best recording to ever come out of San Antonio. Do yourself a favor by getting this disc in your hands!

Robb's Metal Works - June 20th, 2003
This coming Tuesday (6/24) on ROBB'S METALWORKS is an especially important time as it is the last episodes of the month & you know what that means, . . . we're showcasing local talent. And this month's local band is definitely one to talk about as we're delivering one of San Antonio's rising stars, . . . the band DOCTURA. A lot is going on with Doctura right now as they have recently released undoubtedly one of the year's best local CD's. Simply titled "Doctura" this sophomore effort represents the bands growth in leaps & bounds and is a testament to what hard work and dedication can do for a band who really wants it. Expanding on their self-proclaimed "power-groove metal," this release also showcases subtle melodic guitar intricacies that shower the landscape of a few choice tunes, . . like one of my favorites, . . "Lucid Sedations". On top of the band's musical work, the production on the CD is superb - 5 out of 5 stars...and because of that has also received a lot of attention from local musicians aspiring to get that sound too. We caught up with the band this past year at their CD Release Party at the White Rabbit and they gave a killer performance for a packed house of fans, so plan to see some of that live footage. We also had the pleasure of having the band over to the MetalWorks (again) for an indepth interview as we discussed future plans, their achievement on this CD and a possible big performance, which was as of yet unconfirmed. As I write this today, it is NOW confirmed. For some of you who have not yet heard, Doctura will be opening the STAIND gig at the Sunken Garden on July 15th. A super-big accomplishment as I personally know from 99.5KISS - that the band's CD had to pass through the hands of Staind's management & the band members themselves. If that doesn't support all I've written above - I don't know what does.

San Antonio Express News - March 7th, 2003
Doctura describes their music as "power-groove metal." The volume and the heaviness are in place, but bassist Phillip Villagran and drummer Chris Hillhouse set up a thunderous groove that's deep enough to consume a Mack truck. Instead of burying vehicles in that groove, vocalist/guitarist Nat Garza and guitarist Ryan Chadek use it to build a heavy music house with growling vocals and chainsaw guitars. Saturday night Doctura will release its "Doctura" album via a public party at the White Rabbit.
Edge Magazine - March 2003 (San Antonio)
Hitting you straight in the face with their eight song new release, Doctura has come into their own and are making waves and some damn good music. From the first song "Conception" to the last "Conclusion", Doctura has put together a truly impressive album that not only shows the band's growth, but their writing ability as well. For those of you who haven't had the pleasure of hearing or seeing these guys, their music is edgy and powerful. They aren't nu or old metal, but yes they are metal, and one of the things that I like best about the band is that they aren't afraid to experiment and dive off into different realms of music. By that I mean everything that they write doesn't have to be tearing the skin off your face for you to get the point they are trying to make. The record was recorded and produced at Salmon Peak Recording Studios by Ralph Jezzard and mastered by good ol' Billy Stull at Masterpiece Mastering. If any of you have had the good fortune to work with these people then you know what kind of sound you can expect from this recording. All in all, front to back, this is a good listen and a heads up for what is to come from this group of talented musicians. Best of luck to be band, I really enjoyed the tracks and I think a lot of other people will too. Buy this CD and go support these guys live when you hear they are playing.
